If you and/or your child(ren) are getting tired of the same 20 or so Christmas movies that always air on TV during December, here’s a list of movies that aren’t much if at all on the air waves, from my childhood—but are hidden gems I highly recommend for that reason!

Stephanie’s Christmas Tapes:

  1. Mickey’s Christmas Carol
  2. Charlie Brown Peanuts Christmas
  3. Doug’s Christmas
  4. Rugrats Christmas
  5. The Nutcracker
  6. Garfield’s Christmas
  7. How The Grinch Stole Christmas
  8. How The Flintstones Saved Christmas

My Old Christmas VHS Tapes, From The 1990s, On DVD

My husband digitized my old Christmas VHS tapes back when we were dating to preserve the memories of both mine and his childhood. Isn’t it funny how everything always seems better from your childhood when you revisit it? Even the old commercials we enjoy!

In many ways these recorded movies (one of which is very hard to find and purchase) are a timecapsule that we are sharing with our daughter; giving her a glimpse at what it was like to be her age back when we were growing up in the 1990s. The best thing about having these movies in a watchable format for the 21st century is that she may grow to appreciate the technology we have now.

If You Would Like Your VHS Tapes Digitized

If you would like advice on how to digitize your old VHS tapes, feel free to reach out to my husband Geoffrey through me:

Also, check with your local library on what resources they offer for digitizing old VHS tapes and more. The Tinley Park Library offers digitization services, so your library might too.
