Best Way To Cook Bone-In Pork Chops Instructions:
Pork has always been a challenge for me. Playing it too safe and cooking it too long results in a dry pork chop that no one is happy with. Undercooking it runs the risk of getting you and your guests sick and also a spongey texture that does not feel great to bite into. After much success with the steak cooking method, I decided to try it out with the bone in pork chops. By modifying the recipe slightly, I found that this is the best way to cook pork chops.
Ingredients:
- 2 Pork Chops (bone in, about 1 inch thick)
- 2 TBSP Olive Oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Pork Seasoning
- Oven Safe Pan Or Pot
Prep time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 44 minutes
Best Way To Cook Bone-In Pork Chops Step By Step Instructions:
- Start by seasoning the pork chops all over by rubbing in a generous helping of salt and pepper and your pork seasoning.
- Add 1 tbsp of olive oil to each pork chop and gently rub it in.
- Let the pork chops stand at room temperature for 30 minutes to allow seasoning to set in.
- Once the pork chops have been seasoned for 30 minutes, turn the oven on to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Once the oven has warmed to 400F, put your oven-safe pan (or pot—I used a Le Cruset in my case) on the stove top and begin warming said ove-safe pot or pan on a very high heat—we want the pan to be very very warm!
- Sear the pork for 3 minutes on one side in the hot pan.
- Flip the pork chops over once and transfer the pan into the oven on the middle rack of the oven and cook for 6 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven and place it on the stovetop and remove the pork chops from the pan and let rest on a plate for 5 minutes.
- You are welcome to use the red wine sauce recipe from our steak recipe at this step.
- Serve pork chops with the red wine sauce on top, or topping(s) of your choice. You will have a very juicy pork chop with all of the flavor and texture that you’d want in a pork chop either way.
You can serve them with a side of baked beans to complete the meal as well as the red wine sauce from our steak recipe.
And that is the best way I found to cook bone-in pork chops in a pan!
It’s very simple and delivers all of the flavor and tenderness you want in a pork chop.
