About Prairie Ridge Park

Located in the Prairie Ridge subdivision, Prairie Ridge Park isn’t just a park with a handicapped accessible playground set. The park has a huge acreage comprised of:

• a baseball/softball field
• basketball court
• tennis/pickleball courts
• sand volleyball court
• a baggo game (also called hacky sac, right?)
• a gazebo
• access trail to the Old Plank Trail.

Favorite parts: My daughter was really into the music activity built into the playground set. She also had fun chasing our dog all around the huge field. It being winter made it even more fun for all of us, especially our dog Samantha who loves playing in the snow.

Prairie Ridge Park’s got it all. And as your little one grows, they will be able to take full advantage of the other ammenities, like Old Plank Trail. Why is that a big deal? Well, the Forest Preserve District of Will County website lists an impressive array of activities as possible on the trail and in the forest preserve:

• Biking
• Hiking/Running
• In-Line Skating
• Cross-Country Skiing
• Snowshoeing

And Old Plank Trail connects to several other trails, so you can really get lost and travel far for hours. Here’s a list of the connected trails:

• Grand Illinois Trail
• American Discovery Trail
• Wauponsee Glacial Trail
• I&M Canal State Trail
• Hickory Creek Bikeway
• Route 30 Bikeway
• Thorn Creek Trail

And I almost forget, there is a parking lot right next to the baseball/softball field where the opening to Old Plank Trail is aswell. This park has you covered. Only thing missing was a portapotty.
