You don’t get too many sunny winter days in Chicagoland, so my daughter and I wanted to soak up every minute outdoors. Today we discovered a park in Orland Hills, which is just nextdoor to Tinley, called Kelly Park Tot Lot.

About Kelly Park Tot Lot

The Kelly Park Tot Lot is a small playground perfect for young children that consists of two play structures: a tot lot and an arched swing lot.

The tot lot has:

• a side by side slide
• look out ladder
• climber vertical ladder
• chinning bars
• 30 degree look out panel
• cyclone slide
• wall enclosure with steering wheel
• tic tac toe panel
• thunderbolt slide with steps
• a curved loop climber

The swing set has four adult swings and four infant swings.

Favorite parts: My daughter loved trying to climb up the very tall slides, quite successfully despite the slickness of her winter books, and she also enjoyed climbing up the ladders a lot.

Parking is easy at Kelly Park Tot Lot, simply use the adjacent parking lot of Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. You’ll see your car right in front of you, simply walk across the field and you’re there.

I should also mention that Kelly Park has a lake for fishing called Lorin Lake and a tennis court, which in warmer weather sound like a lot of fun.
