As you do in winter when there aren’t many sunny days, you make every effort to stay outside as long as possible on the sunny days no matter what. Today my daughter and I revisited a park we enjoy a lot when we’re out abouts the Mokena/New Lenox area.

About Hickory Creek Junction

The best part about Hickory Creek Junction is that it’s not just a playground, it also comprises of a 1,541-acre forest preserve and miles and miles of trails for biking, etc., and a picnic shelter! But let’s get back to the playground. It has:

  • 1 baby swing
  • 1 regular swing
  • 1 tire swing
  • 1 playset with two slides and a long ramp that connects to a shelter
  • 1 connecting playset for looking out with stairs and conjoined twin slides
  • a wood chip play area with a see-saw for two to enjoy

Favorite parts: My daughter loves the see saw. It’s a great gentle work out for your legs moms. I could’ve stayed on the see saw all day and I’m sure my daughter would if she could.

Hickory Creek Junction has a spacious parking lot right when you enter, which is very convenient. The picnic shelter is between the playground and the parking lot.

Hickory Creek Junction’s got it all. And as your little one grows, they will be able to take full advantage of the forest preserve and trails. The Forest Preserve District of Will County website lists an impressive array of activities as possible on the trails and in the forest preserve:

  • Biking
  • Hiking/Running
  • In-Line Skating
  • Cross-Country Skiing
  • Snowshoeing
